Video Hyundai Elantra 2023 test drive and video reviews of the new model on youtube

The car is still made to drive.

Then what are we waiting for? Ouch, it hurts! Be careful, despite all the beauty and ergonomics, the Elantra bites the gearshift lever. So I switched like a true British aristocrat, little finger sticking out. First of all, of course, it is interesting to “feel” the new power unit. So far, very little is known about it, and they haven’t managed to collect data on reliability yet, but I hope that none of the four cylinders will go into the stratosphere, and I press the gas to the floor.

Pickup from below is simply gorgeous, but closer to 70 km / h, the speaker begins to slowly leave the car. The second gear is not at all frisky, but there is no frank failure either, so the car will pass the passport 9.8 with a tailwind. Are the settings of the machine suitable for this motor? Not sure. Like any torque converter, he is too lazy to throw off gears and takes a couple of tenths from acceleration. In the sport mode, I did not notice any significant changes in the speed of the gearbox and more peppy responses to the gas. Perhaps the fact is that in any mode of movement, I tend to get the pedal off the floor less often. In any case, you need to get used to the operation of the box, but it will not take much time. And, of course, for trying to squeeze out of the car what it physically cannot, I paid with fuel consumption. Elantra with an appetite “swallowed” 14 liters in an overly active driving mode and, it seems, did not eat enough. The minimum flow rate that I saw with a relatively calm (for me) rhythm was 11.7. This is also impressive, but not so scary. On average, for almost 700 km, the car asked for 12.3 liters of gasoline per “hundred”. I would like it to be smaller, but in general the figure is not terrifying.

Suspension has always been good for Hyundai, and the Elantra is no exception. It is quite comfortable to overcome small irregularities on it, and the car will carefully inform you about something more serious than a small hole. There are no rough breakdowns or inappropriate shaking. Although, looking at her from the outside, I was already mentally prepared to break through the ceiling with my spine. All rolls are within reason, and she is trying to keep the trajectory with all her might. She is very good at it, by the way. The response to the steering wheel pleased with predictability and accuracy, although the modern scourge of the “empty” tie rod did not bypass our beauty. Of course, she notices a deep rut, but she treats it quite calmly. Can it be called driver’s? To a first approximation, perhaps yes. But this only applies to the two-liter version. The 1.6 engine for the Elantra is frankly weak and will suit fans of a very slow and sedate ride. Is she comfortable in the rhythm of the city? Definitely.

Rumor has it that they worked on soundproofing in it. Of course, I didn’t feel any cosmic silence, but it’s quite possible to talk with passengers during city driving without raising your voice. Up to 80 km / h, the wheel arches rustle a little, and then aerodynamic noises are already connected. There is no escape from them in the C-segment.

The ride quality of the Elantra doesn’t make the heart skip beats, but it doesn’t disappoint either. There are no frankly weak points and surprises, and this is another plus in her piggy bank.

Specifications

power unit

Koreans for our country produced two atmospheric gasoline engines with a four-cylinder configuration, a 16-valve DOHC type gas distribution mechanism, as well as distributed injection technology. All “engines” comply with Euro-5 environmental standards.

The base is the aluminum 1.6-liter Gamma engine, which received a chain drive gas distribution mechanism, generating 128 horsepower (155 Nm). It allows you to reach 100 km / h in 10.1-11.6 seconds, and the top speed does not exceed 195-200 kilometers per hour (in two cases, versions with manual transmission have the best result). The engine “eats” no more than 6.6-6.9 liters per 100 km, depending on the modification.

Next comes the 2.0-liter 150-horsepower (192 Nm) power plant, which has an aluminum cast crankcase and block head, a timing belt with exhaust and intake phase shifters. With such an engine, Hyundai Elantra 2019 accelerates to the first hundred in 8.8-9.9 seconds, and the “maximum speed” is 202-205 kilometers per hour. Average fuel consumption at the level of 7.1-7.2 liters in the combined cycle.

Transmission

Either engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, as an additional option, you can install a 6-band automatic transmission. All torque potential is transmitted only to the front wheels.

Chassis

The new 6th generation Hyundai Elantra has a seriously upgraded front-wheel drive platform from the previous family. The body structure of the car is 53 percent made of high-strength steel grades. Engineers also paid a lot of attention to the issue of aerodynamics (one of the best indicators in the class is 0.27 Cx).

The front part is equipped with an independent suspension with McPherson struts, as well as a transverse stabilizer, and the rear part is equipped with a semi-independent torsion beam with shock absorbers and springs. The steering device received a rack and pinion transmission, as well as an electric amplifier. The brake system of the new Korean sedan received disc devices in front (280 mm) and rear (262 mm).

Security

The updated Hyundai Elantra is hardly aspiring to win the title of the safest car in its class, but it has enough equipment to satisfy the requirements of most drivers. Due to the fact that higher quality steel was used, this had a positive effect on the level of safety of the sedan, and with the help of improved sound insulation, acoustic comfort inside the car reached a new level. So, the 6th generation was equipped with:

  • Front, side airbags;
  • immobilizer;
  • Automatic door unlocking system in case of a traffic accident;
  • Three-point seat belts for 5 passengers;
  • Adjustable headrests front and rear;
  • Technologies EBD, ABS, ESP;
  • Rear camera;
  • Tracking system for “dead” zones;
  • Technology that helps when starting uphill;
  • Automatic deceleration system, which operates at speeds up to 10 kilometers per hour;
  • “Cruise”;
  • Sensors for lighting, tire pressure, and light;
  • Adaptive head optics;
  • parking assistant;
  • A system that warns of a lane change.

Handling and off-road performance

Before talking about the handling of the Hyundai Elantra 2022, you should pay attention to the off-road performance of the model. You need to understand that in this case we are talking about an urban vehicle that is in no way adapted for off-road use. The car received a long wheelbase and low ground clearance. And this guarantees little difficulty even when driving on dirt roads and rough terrain. In turn, it is worth noting that this sedan boasts good handling and good driving performance. “Korean” has proper maneuverability and moderately stiff suspension, which provides a decent level of comfort in the cabin for a model related to the C-class.

Test Drive

We continue the video test drive. The 2017 Hyundai Elantra rear beam settings are just great, you almost don’t feel it, pleasant steering. I like the smoothness of the ride. It seems that there is a multi-link, at least. The suspension is strong, omnivorous, even speed bumps are passed with a bang. Does not flinch, the body does not bother at all. Pendant 5 out of 5, just perfect.

Steering. An electric power steering is installed here, the adjustment ranges for the column are very large. In the parking lot, it feels like power steering. When the car accelerates too. Very nice backlash. Men will appreciate it, but the fair sex may complain.

The steering isn’t the best in class, but there’s more to brag about than the competition. Refined handling of the car, chic design both inside and out. The front is somewhat reminiscent of the Jaguar XF.

I was pleased with the six-speed automatic, very well tuned. The tandem of the power unit and the engine is beautiful. Many complain about the soundproofing of the wheel arches. Yes, it’s not enough.

We note separately in our review of the Hyundai Elantra that, first of all, the car is focused on a calm, sensible driver. It’s a family sedan that performs well in any role, practical, reliable and roomy. Each element in this car is given increased attention. It will not disappoint you in any case, because there is an excellent warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km. This is a very decent car at a relatively affordable price. He has an excellent price-quality ratio.
