The new Octavia, like all cars manufactured by the Volkswagen Group, is traditionally for German manufacturers equipped with a large number of security systems and devices. Modern DSGs are much more reliable. preselective boxes of early modifications. In any case, the control unit (mechatronic) lasts much longer, and the resource of such boxes has become longer. But since we are talking about a complete set with a 1.6 engine, these questions should not worry us. The choice is simple: manual or automatic. My choice is clear: automatic. In a modern city, with its uneven rhythm of traffic and constant traffic jams, constantly depressing the clutch pedal and shifting manually is tiring.
The Aisin 09G (AQ160) automatic transmission is considered to be quite reliable. In the secondary market, cars with just such a gearbox are most valued.

The rest of the car is well balanced and easy to drive. Electric power steering. The car responds to steering without excessive harshness. Just what the average driver needs. But the brake pedal, especially during the first experience of driving an Octavia, may seem too sensitive. But this is easy to get used to.
Armchairs that are installed in the maximum configuration are definitely worth paying extra for them. Firstly, they are incredibly comfortable (we covered over 400 kilometers in a day and didn’t want to throw away our backs and buy ourselves new ones!). Lateral support, a pleasant curve in the lumbar region and the correct shape in the shoulder area are the key to a comfortable journey. Secondly, they are very stylish: a perfect combination of high-quality eco-leather, pleasant to the touch Alcantara with neat, even stitching a tone lighter than the chair itself. And the third is power and seat memory.
In fact, it is strange for me in the twenty-first century to single out this item in a special way, because I am sincerely convinced that this function should be as mandatory as the presence of the chairs themselves. But for some reason, automakers do not share my opinion, and most of them have this option for an additional fee.
And now I will tell you about those options that, in my opinion, need to be urgently extended to all cars. The first is a wide neck with a funnel lid at the washer fluid reservoir. Well, you must admit, pouring a washer into a hole the size of a ruble coin is a worse mockery than mechanical seat adjustment. Personally, after the procedure, only half of the liquid turned out to be in the tank, the rest in sad streams, mixing with my tears, flowed down the engine compartment onto the asphalt. So I am especially grateful for this option!
The second gift of fate is the drainage grooves along the edges of the windshield. Those who, forgetting to close the window before spraying on the glass, caught drops of washer fluid with their faces, will now share my joy. Well, the third love is the brush and umbrella compartments in the front doors, but I already mentioned them.
